Welcome to CortneyHaley.com

I'm not going to bullshit you, unless I decide it might be a necessary element of the art I make. I am not going to write in the third person like you're "supposed to." I am going to talk directly to you, the visitor to my site. I am serious about making art and I am serious about not taking making art too seriously. What you will see here is my heart, mind, spirit, and body pouring out on the lawn, waiting to be devoured by you and your fellow homo sapiens. Some of what I present for your palette, you may want to vomit back up. Other elements you may want to chew on for a while, and still others you will want to savor for a long time. I don't expect you to like everything I do. I do hope that you can at least appreciate that this is my space and that what I put here is mine - don't steal it!

I have returned from Atlanta and the Festival Gathering of the Network of Biblical Storytellers

It was a great trip and I am pleased to report that I sold six images/paintings, all small but much appreciated sales. Some of the images were from a series of images I have been working on for one of my clients, GoTell Communications. We are recording the Gospel readings of the lectionary as stories. I am making an image for each story as well. To see some of my work, go here. Another exicting thing at the gathering was the keynote speaker, M.T. Winter. She was amazing. I was inspired by her talk and hope to create some paintings/images that put the women back in the stories of the bible. I hope to do an official show at next years gathering.

In other news...

I have been working on lots of jewelry pieces lately. I am trying to build up my inventory as well as work on some new designs. It's been fun to pow around with my friend Deb Wiggins and hunt for beads. I'll post the photographs here when I get some.

I have relisted a bunch of stuff on my etsy site. Hope you'll check that stuff out as well.

I am settled into my new apartment in Hamilton. I really like it here and have enjoyed setting up my spaces. Guess it's the designer in me. It's not a huge place but it is my place. I was allowed to paint the colors I wanted on the walls and I arranged things to suit myself. I made my bedroom dual function as a living room so that I could use the front room as my studio/office. The studio has great natural light and enough space for me to do the things I want to do, except those 6' x 6' paintings I have in my head. I do have a garage that will be a wood shop and studio annex for those larger works I hope to do. We'll see how that works in the winter.
